What is occupational road risk?
The risk of harm when employees drive for work, including to other road users. It covers company vehicles and employees' own vehicles used on business.
Do employers have to manage it?
Yes. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 applies to work-related driving in the same way as other work activities, and HSE guidance on driving at work expects employers to assess and manage the risk.
Does it cover grey fleet drivers?
Yes. Staff driving their own vehicles for work are included in your duty of care.
Where should we start?
